MMS Art Studio was founded in Seattle by a small group of working musicians who believed online lessons could be every bit as personal — and every bit as inspiring — as the great in-person ones.
MMS Art Studio started as a question: why does online music education so often feel like a downgrade? The video lags, the audio compresses every musical detail into oatmeal, and the curriculum feels like a one-size-fits-all PDF. Surely we could do better.
In 2024, our founder — a working performer with years of teaching experience — assembled a small team of musicians and engineers in Seattle, Washington. We started with two non-negotiables: the tools had to honor the music, and the teachers had to be the real deal.
Today we serve students aged 14 and above across 20 disciplines — from piano and voice to jazz theory and AI-assisted composition. Every instructor is a working professional. Every lesson runs on our purpose-built Smart Virtual Classroom with hi-fi audio routing, cinema-quality video, and tools designed for music, not just generic video chat.
We're a small team. We answer our own emails. We pick up our own phones. If you ever want to talk to a human, just write us — we love hearing what students are working on.
Every decision starts with one question: does this make our students better musicians? If the answer isn't obvious, we don't do it.
No bots, no recorded "lessons" pretending to be live. Every instructor is a working musician who has spent years on stages and in studios.
We obsess over our virtual classroom because the tool you learn with shapes the kind of musician you become. Hi-fi audio, fast video, no friction.
Music takes years. Our culture is one of patience, encouragement, and finding joy in the journey — not just the destination.
